about
Every fall, the vegetable preservers amongst us collapse under the weight of yet another bountiful green tomato harvest. We don't want to waste food! But wow, there's a limit to how much a person can pickle. Meanwhile our neighbours lost their minds months ago and have been yelling about it at all hours ever since. We're with ya, buddy. We don't have the solution, but want some chutney? “Wolves A-Howling,” Traditional Southeast USA since at least 1920.
lyrics
1, 2, 3, 2020 won’t you leave it to the feds who can cough up the money
More rapid than water that’s been falling in the mountain wood
Out through the front door – leaving the city
Where we can breathe in all the terpenes and it’s such a pity
That you’re screaming in your jammies in your 10x10 rented hell
I’m going out of my mind
Need you to meet me outside
Where we can get out of our heads
And we can beat out the seconds (repeat) of an endless time
And Goddamn all of these green tomatoes
We’ll lay them all to waste
And I know that the winters coming
If we don’t make haste we’ll be late
4, 5, 6, gets a little bit colder
Don’t you hide out in your house and get a little bit older
When the money’s flowing back into the pockets of who’s up to no good
3, 2, 1 and we’re back where we started and you’re feeling just a little (just a little) half-hearted yeah you’re feeling, you’re feeling that this might never end
And if the leaves start to pop before you’re good and ready
And you can’t get out of bed because you’re way up in your head … well,
I’m going out of my mind
Need you to meet me outside
Where we can get out of our heads
And we can beat out the seconds (repeat) of an endless time
Goddamn all of these green tomatoes
We’ll lay them all to waste
And I know that the winters coming
If we don’t make haste we’ll be late

Belaver’s “Trash” builds from hushed verses to a big, booming crescendo of a chorus, with lyrics that praise finding beauty in darkness. Bandcamp New & Notable Aug 14, 2018
